Custom Accent Furniture
Locally Crafted in Calgary, Alberta
I design and build custom accent furniture in my Calgary woodshop for people who value thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and furniture that truly fits their space. Coffee tables, console tables, couch tables, side tables, and more are designed specifically for your home, your layout, and how you move through the space each day.
Every piece is crafted from premium hardwoods using a blend of modern and time tested techniques, resulting in accent furniture that integrates naturally into its surroundings. Built for long term use, each piece is thoughtfully designed with intuitive features that function effortlessly in daily life while supporting the overall look and feel of the space it occupies. Every piece is designed with you in mind and how you use your home, created to outlast trends and fads and become a lasting staple you rely on every day without having to think about it because it simply works.
Pricing and Investment
Because every piece of accent furniture is custom designed and built, pricing varies based on size, materials, complexity, and the level of detail involved. Each project is quoted individually to reflect the time, craftsmanship, and care required to build a piece that fits your space properly and performs well in daily use.
As a general guideline, most custom accent furniture projects begin around $800+, with pricing increasing based on factors such as overall dimensions, wood species, joinery, integrated storage or features, and finish selection.
During the design and quoting phase, I provide a clear and detailed quote so expectations are aligned before moving forward. There are no surprise costs or misleading numbers, just transparent pricing tied directly to the scope of the build.
Custom furniture is an investment in my craftmanship and pieces designed specifically for your home, built to support daily life, and crafted to last for years to come. The value is felt not only in how the furniture looks, but in how naturally it fits into your space and how well it continues to function over time.
What Is Accent Furniture?
Accent furniture refers to the smaller pieces in a home that support how a space functions and feels. These are the pieces that complement the rest of the furniture in a room, provide surfaces you naturally reach for throughout the day, and quietly tie a space together visually. While they may not always be the largest items in a room, they often have the greatest impact on how the space is used day to day.
Common examples of accent furniture include coffee tables, console tables, custom cabinetry, along with custom pieces designed to solve specific layout or storage needs. These pieces typically live in high traffic areas, see constant use, and must balance durability, proportion, and function without drawing unnecessary attention to themselves.
Custom accent furniture goes beyond standard dimensions and generic designs. Each piece is designed to fit the exact space it will live in, accounting for room flow, surrounding furniture, and how the piece will actually be used. The goal is not to create a statement for the sake of it, but to build furniture that feels natural in its environment and works intuitively within your home.
If you have other pieces built by me, or are planning a broader furniture package, custom accent furniture can tie everything together, creating a cohesive flow throughout your home that feels seamless and intentional.

Why Custom Matters
Accent furniture is used constantly. It is touched, leaned on, set things down on, and moved around daily. When these pieces are not sized or designed properly for a space, they quickly become obstacles rather than assets. Even small differences in height, depth, or placement can disrupt how a room functions.
Custom furniture is designed around your specific space and how you use it. Dimensions are adjusted to suit surrounding furniture, walkways, and sightlines. Heights are considered based on how you sit, reach, and move through the room. Storage, surfaces, and details are planned with intention so the piece feels natural to use without requiring thought or adjustment.
The result is furniture that works quietly in the background of everyday life. Pieces feel balanced in the space, movement through the room feels easier, and the furniture supports your routines rather than interrupting them. This level of fit and consideration is what allows custom accent furniture to feel effortless and timeless in a home.
Common Accent Furniture Builds
While every piece I build is custom, many accent furniture projects fall into a few familiar categories. These pieces are designed to support everyday use, fit naturally within a space, and complement the surrounding furniture without overpowering it.
Coffee Tables
Custom coffee tables are designed around your seating layout, room size, and daily routines so they feel natural to use and balanced within the space. Proportions, height, and surface area are carefully considered to support comfort, movement, and everyday function without becoming an obstacle or visual distraction. Each table is designed to complement the surrounding furniture while quietly supporting how the room is actually used.
Key design considerations often include:
overall height and reach from seating
spacing for comfortable movement through the room
surface area for daily use without excess bulk
optional lower shelves or subtle organization features
material thickness and edge details that suit the space
The result is a coffee table that fits effortlessly into your home, supports daily use and becomes a staple in your space for years to come.
Side Tables
Side tables may be small, but they are some of the most frequently used pieces in a home. Custom side tables are designed with intentional height, footprint, and surface space so they feel natural to reach for and effortless to live with every day. Careful attention is given to how the table sits beside seating, beds, or within a room so it supports daily use without crowding the space or disrupting flow.
Key design considerations often include:
height relative to seating or mattress level
footprint to suit tight or open spaces
surface area for everyday items like lamps, books, or drinks
stability and balance for frequent use
Features like drawers, integrated lighting, secret compartments, or charging stations
A well designed side table works quietly in the background, supporting daily routines while feeling intentional, functional and built to last.
Cabinets and Storage Pieces
Cabinet projects are often where function and craftsmanship matter most. These pieces need to store, organize, and conceal while still feeling balanced and intentional within the space. Custom cabinets allow for solutions that standard furniture simply cannot provide.
I design and build custom high end cabinets and storage pieces to suit the exact needs of your home. This can include media cabinets, low storage units, display cabinets, record storage, or general purpose cabinetry designed to fit a specific room or layout. Each piece is sized precisely for the space, accounting for surrounding furniture, walkways, and how the cabinet will be accessed and used day to day.
Details such as interior layout, shelf spacing, door styles, and hardware are considered early in the design process so the cabinet works intuitively without drawing attention to itself. The goal is furniture that feels clean and composed on the outside, while being highly functional and easy to live with on the inside.
Like all of my accent furniture, custom cabinets are built from solid hardwood with long term durability in mind. These are not temporary storage solutions, but carefully crafted pieces designed to support daily life and remain relevant as your needs and style evolve.
Custom Pieces
Some projects do not fit neatly into a standard category. Custom accent furniture allows for one of a kind solutions designed around specific needs, unique layouts, or existing furniture. These pieces are built with you and your space in mind from the very beginning.
Custom projects invite creativity. They allow ideas to go beyond standard forms and open the door to designs that are truly personal. I work with you to shape those ideas into well considered, functional pieces that bring your vision to life. These projects are the ones I enjoy most, as they push me creatively and challenge my skills as a builder.
Every custom piece is truly one of a kind. Designed and built specifically for your home, it becomes a unique focal point in the space and often a natural conversation piece when friends and family gather.

The Build Process
I work closely with you from the first conversation through to final delivery, and you work directly with me at every stage. From the initial discussion to the moment your custom piece arrives in your home, I am hands on and involved throughout the entire process.
Initial Conversation
We begin by discussing your space, your goals for the piece, and how it will be used in daily life. This conversation helps clarify design direction, functional needs, and how the piece will integrate with your existing furniture and layout. It also allows us to align expectations and confirm that we are the right fit to move forward together.
Design Alignment and Quoting
Based on our discussion, I develop a design direction and provide a detailed quote. This stage may include visual references, sketches, and design guidance to ensure proportions, features and overall style is heading in the right direction before heading to the deposit and final design.
Queue Holding Deposit
A $250 queue holding deposit secures your place in my build schedule and allows final the final design and details to be confirmed before materials are ordered and the build begins. This ensures your project is properly planned and scheduled without rushing decisions.
Material Selection and Build
As your build window approaches, I personally select the hardwoods for your piece and begin the build in my Calgary shop. Accent furniture often involves fine details and careful proportioning, and small refinements may be made during the build to achieve the best possible result. Any significant changes are always discussed and approved before moving forward.
You are welcome to follow along on Instagram and YouTube to see behind the scenes progress on my builds and gain insight into the craftsmanship that goes into my custom furniture.
Delivery or Shipping
Finished furniture pieces can be picked up or delivered locally within the Calgary area, or shipped across Canada and the United States. All pieces are carefully packed and fully insured for safe transit. For local deliveries, I personally handle delivery, placement, any light setup required, and remove all packing materials so your space is left clean and ready to enjoy.
After Delivery
My involvement does not end once your piece is delivered. I care about how it functions in your space and how it becomes part of your everyday routine.
If questions come up or something does not feel quite right, I am always an email away. I am happy to offer guidance on care, maintenance, or small adjustments over time. Your accent furniture is built to last, and my ongoing support is part of that commitment.

Wood is a natural material and furniture is meant to be used. Normal wear and tear, changes from seasonal wood movement, and signs of everyday use are expected over time and are not considered defects. These natural changes are part of what gives solid wood furniture its character.
My goal is for your furniture to work well in your home and age gracefully over the years. If you ever have questions or concerns, I am always happy to help with advice, care guidance, or next steps.
